The history of Eiffage
With 170 years of experience, the Eiffage Construction group
has established itself as a leader in its 4 areas of activity:
urban development, property development, construction and services.
Eiffage Construction draws on 4 complementary business lines
to provide a comprehensive, controlled offering. This enables it to support the most ambitious projects in France and Europe.
The brief
Some of Eiffage Construction’s teams are made up of a crane operator and slingers on the ground. The distance between the workers and the ambient noise make communication very difficult, while the precision of manoeuvres is key and depends on coordination between the operators. The team’s productivity and everyone’s safety depend on it!
The deployed solution
In order to re-establish communication within its teams on worksites and equipment parks, Eiffage Construction has chosen to equip itself with VOKKERO GUARDIAN kits, a communication system equipped with a patented noise filter, and whose new models offer extended Bluetooth functionalities.
The system works as follows: in the crane cab, the crane operator has a push-to-talk pedal which, when pressed, enables him to talk to the slingers on the ground. They are equipped with VOKKERO radios and helmets with hearing protection and built-in microphone, linked via Bluetooth to the radio terminal.
They can give instructions to the crane operator hands-free, without the risk of tearing a cable connecting the radio to the helmet. The crane operator receives instructions via a loudspeaker, also Bluetooth, positioned in his cabin. He is instantly informed of the details of the manoeuvre and keeps his hands free to steer the machine (see photo below).
With freedom of movement and communication, teams are more efficient, more precise, more productive, more comfortable and, above all, safer.
The result
Clear communication
Communication is fluid and instantaneous, allowing both slingers and crane operators to share information continuously while remaining free to move about.
Enhanced safety
As well as improving communication between the teams, safety has been enhanced and manoeuvres are even more precise.
An adaptable system
The VOKKERO GUARDIAN bluetooth adapts to the most complex environments. Here, the crane operator can communicate using the push-to-talk pedal and hear instructions through his Bluetooth speaker.
‘By adopting the Bluetooth model, we’ve noticed an optimised use of the VOKKERO GUARDIAN. This version gives us greater freedom of movement. Unlike the old wired model, which sometimes restricted our movements, we now enjoy smoother, unhindered use’.
